West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona, Tuesday, May 21, 2013 Sammie Walker, 92, of Litchfield Park died May 20, 2013, in Surprise. Mr. Walker was born April 9, 1921, in Shawnee, Okla., to Alvan and Minnie Bell Walker. He moved to Arizona in 1941 and was a welder and home builder. He served in the Army Air Corps. He is survived by his wife, Imogene Walker of Litchfield Park; two daughters, Sammie Gene Walker of Sun City and Deborah Leuthold of Litchfield Park; one sister, Bessie Mae Backer; one brother, Jack Walker; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A viewing will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. A burial service will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road in Phoenix, with a memorial service following at 11 a.m. at First Southern Baptist Church, 1001 N. Central Ave. in Avondale. The Rev. Jack Marslender will officiate.
