BALLANTINE, Jerome Alan (Jerry)


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona, May 23, 2010 Jerome Alan Ballantine born July 11, 1933 to Clinton W. Ballantine and Ann Houlihan Ballantine in Grand Forks, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2010. Jerry was a caring and loving father, husband, grandfather, brother and uncle. He met and married the love of his life Madonna Deziel on June 6, 1955. After 54 years of marriage, Madonna preceded him in death. Jerry is survived by son and daughter-in-law Michael and Deanna Ballantine of Fort Collins, Colorado; daughter and son-in-law Karen and Bruce Joshu of Chandler, Arizona; grandchildren Amy Joshu, Clinton Joshu, Scott Ballantine and Ryan Ballantine; sister Rita Gustafson; brother Wayne Ballantine; brother and sister-in-law James and Margaret Ballantine; and sister-in-law Patricia Ballantine. After graduating from the University of North Dakota with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering he went on to become an aerospace engineer at Martin Marietta in Denver, Colorado where he worked for over 30 years. In his free time he was an avid golfer and fisherman. Hockey was also a passion and he spent free time coaching a youth league in Littleton, Colorado. He was an active member in the Knights of Columbus and once served as Grand Knight. In the KOC, he will be remembered as the organizer of many fundraising and social activities. Rosary and Memorial Mass will be held at St. Steven's Catholic Church 24827 S. Dobson Rd. Sun Lakes, Arizona on Friday May 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley 1510 E. Flower St. Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656.
