The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona, September 24, 2009 Esther Catherine Frierdich nee Wierschem, 91, of Mesa, AZ., formerly of Bellerville, Il., born December 31, 1917, in Madonnaville, Il., went home to the Lord, September 22, 2009. She was an active member of St. Augustin of Cantebury Church, Belleville, Il., Daughters of Isabelle, Women of the Moose, Southside Improvement Association, and Queen of Mary Sodality. Esther and her husband retired to Mesa. She most recently resided at the Citadel assisted living comunity. She and her husband Joseph celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary Aug 29, 2006. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony Wierschem and Magdelena Wiershem nee Vogt, five sisters and one brother. She is survived by her 3 children Charlotte (Doug) Volkman of Mesa, AZ., JoAnn (Lawrence) Lennaman of Wildwood, MO., Gary Lee Frierdich and Jean Jetter of Waterloo, Il., 8 grandchildren, Jennifer McCall, Shannon Devine, Sunny Frierdich, Tony Frierdich, Jacob Frierdich, Lara Lennaman, Stephanie Aponte and Hallie Lennaman; 10 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sally Smith of Waterloo, Il., numerous nephews and nieces. Visitation: Friends may call 5 to 7pm with a Rosary at 6:30pm Thursday, 9-24-2009 at Melcher Mortuary Mission Chapel 6626 E Main St Mesa. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 am Friday 9-25-2009 at Christ the King Catholic Church 1550 E Dana Mesa, AZ 85204. Burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery 1500 E Baseline Rd Mesa.
