Frederick Thomas Page, born Oct. 1, 1912, spent most of his life in Seattle, Wash. He died April 24 in Surprise.
Fred met his dear wife Ellen in Seattle on a blind date, and they were married just three months later, celebrating 58 years together. Ellen preceded Fred in death in June 1997.
In Seattle, Fred and Ellen raised four children - surviving daughters Shirley Smart, Barbara Weston and Bonita Bailey, and son Thomas Page, who died in July 2012. Descendants include five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
In 1929, during the Great Depression, Fred built a side van for his motorcycle and delivered print jobs. He requested an apprenticeship in typesetting, and after three years an apprenticeship became available. He continued as a typesetter until his retirement.
At the age of 74, he accepted a Bible study from Jehovah’s Witnesses and began attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall. After two years, he was baptized in 1986.
Moving to Wickenburg in 1989, Fred and Ellen built a home and thoroughly enjoyed life in Wickenburg. He could be seen walking around town daily.
After losing his wife in death, Fred lived his last 14 years at My Father’s Retirement Ranch. He was an active member of the congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses here in Wickenburg until his death.
Keeping in touch with those who touched his heart, Fred chose to write 50 to 60 letters each month - including heartfelt expressions of appreciation for his Creator Jehovah God. Fred felt Jehovah had given him a few extra years of life to help others learn about our true God.
He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and his congregation.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. this Saturday (June 1) at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 590 S. Kellis Rd. in Wickenburg.
