Frances Louise Courtney Fields, 79, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at her home in Prescott. She was born Dec. 18, 1921, in Reedley, Calif., to William H. and Priscilla ‘Irwin’ Courtney.
Mrs. Fields married Robert W. Fields Sr. on Nov. 7, 1943, in Stockton, Calif. They lived in Stockton and Carmichael, Calif., until the summer of 1955 when they moved to Massachusetts.
After selling Nutrilite food supplements, they moved to Prescott in 1962. Mrs. Fields worked with her husband in their Amway business, and also worked in the personnel department for Yavapai County from 1979 until she retired in 1989.
She was a member of the Mountain Artists Guild, Prescott Fine Arts and Mountain Spinners and Weavers. She also volunteered with spinning demonstrations at Sharlot Hall Museum.
Mrs. Fields served on the board of directors of the Alzheimer’s Association and was involved with that organization’s support group.
Surviving are her daughters, Courtney Glau, Susanne Gilbert and Christal Baker, all of Mesa, Rebecca Tussey of La Jolla, Calif., Christina Gormley and Mary Houghton, both of Prescott, and Bernadette Gilwee of Fullerton, Calif.; sons, Robert, William and Brian, all of Prescott; sister, Hazel Peterson of Stockton, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her daughter, Linda, in December 1946, her twin sister, Phyllis Baker, in February 1985, and her husband of 47 years, in February 1991.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Pyka, C.M.F., officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions in Mrs. Fields’ name to Yavapai Regional Medical Center Hospice, P.O. Box 26565, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314.
