Bunker Family Funeral & Cremation, Mesa, Arizona Robert Alan Childs April 1, 1927 ~ May 31, 2013 Robert Alan Childs, “Bob” 86, passed away May 31, 2013 after a 10 year battle with MDS. He was born April 1, 1927 in Bellflower, CA to James C. Childs and Ruth Jacobsen. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Stan, Jim, Natalie and grandson Cameron. He leaves behind his beloved eternal companion of 61 years, Margaret (Mortenson), children, Debbie (Roger) Foote, Sheri (Jim) Alvey, Michael Childs, brother Dave, 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He dearly loved and provided 3 generations of his posterity with cherished memories of his experiences working for the Forest Service at just 15, and enlisting at 16 in the Coast Guard during WWII. Bob spent most of his married life as a building contractor in California and his projects included work on the Queen Mary as well as the Glen Canyon Dam. Bob’s motto for life; "See the good in the world and see what I can do to make the world a better place.” In later years Bob found great joy going to the mall each Saturday to meet new friends and offer encouragement to those he met; young and old. Bob had an incredible thirst for knowledge and could give details about any subject. He loved his Family. He loved his Country. He loved and knew his Savior well. Funeral services are Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 10 AM, preceded by a viewing at 9 AM at the LDS Monterey Ward, 7145 E. Monterey Ave, Mesa, AZ 85209. Arrangements by Bunker’s Garden Chapel.
