Michael O'Brien Taylor (Coach Mike) passed away May 31, 2013 in Flagstaff. He was born June 16, 1946, in Los Angeles, to Dr. Charles Taylor and Rebekah (Hyde).
He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Ohio University, where he was a Member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He went on to earn his Master of Fine Arts Degree from University of Illinois Urbana Champaign.
He served in the Army as 1st Lt. at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.
He and his wife, Simone, moved to Lake Havasu City 11 years ago from California. He coached the Havasu Stingray swim team for the past 10 years after retiring from coaching in California. He loved his family, great friends and riding his Harley with the GOATHEADS. He enjoyed many miles of riding together with his wife, including a special "Run for the Wall" to Washington, D.C.
Mike is survived by his wife, Simone Taylor; sons, Michael and Jonathan Taylor; daughter, Brooke Taylor; stepson, Travis Hollins; stepdaughter, Crystal Hollins; grandchildren, Lucy, Charlie and Violet Taylor, Joseph and Jaycee McNally, Elle, Sarah, Lauren Ekman, Zack and Owen Hollins; mother, Rebekah Brown; mother-in-law, Dorthy Mae Hande; stepmother, Jacquie Taylor Thomas (Gerry); sister, Jill Gaydos (Gerry); stepsister, Heather Hansen; nephews, Josh and Geoff Gaydos; and sisters-in-law, Deirdre Lind (Steve), and Cindy Jones (Mike).
The family requests in lieu of flowers to make a donation in his name to Lake Havasu American Legion Post 81.
