Black’s Show Low Mortuary, Show Low, Arizona Darrell William Freeman (August 27, 1938 - June 7, 2013) Darrell William Freeman, 74, passed away on June 7, 2013 in Show Low, Arizona. He was born on August 27, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois. Darrell, who was lovingly referred to by friends as Bird, was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church and served as the second choir director. Darrell served as a volunteer for Little Sisters of the Poor in Gallup, New Mexico. He was a police officer in Phoenix where he served on motorcycle patrol for 8 years. He also was an Army Veteran and a former truck driver. He loved his saxophone and was an avid musician, playing with Eddie and the Cruisers in Miami for over 20 years. Darrell was preceded in death by his Parents – Gustav and Evelyn Freeman. He is survived by his Wife – Kathy Freeman, 8 Children, 23 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren and Brother – Willard Freeman. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his memory to Little Sisters of the Poor in Gallup, NM. There will be a Rosary recited for him on Sunday, June 9,2013 7PM at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Show Low. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013 3 PM at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Show Low. Internment will be immediately following at Show Low Cemetery.
