Ruby May Hopkins Anderson was born May 16, 1921. She passed peacefully on June 3, 2013, in St. George, Utah, at the age of 92. Ruby was born in Fort Lupton, Colo., to James Arthur Hopkins and Lottie Reed Hopkins. Ruby was the oldest of five children.
Ruby married Carl Richard Anderson on July 8, 1940; they had three children, James O., Marguerite, and Glen. Ruby worked hard each and every day, and hard work was her motto in life, out-working most men. Ruby farmed in Beryl, Utah, alongside her husband for 50 years, building their farm and raising their children. Ruby's green thumb grew everything, from trees, flowers, vegetable gardens, and later Joshua Trees in Dolan Springs, Ariz. As a young child through her adult life, some of her best friends were cows.
Ruby is survived by her son, James O. (Pam) Anderson of Huntington, Utah; daughter, Marguerite (Kirby) Hamm of Dolan Springs; and son, Glen (Deanna) Anderson of Desert Springs, Ariz. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Richard Anderson; four siblings, Wilbur, Raymond, Jimmy and June; and her granddaughter, Sandy. Ruby had 12 grandchildren: Sandy, Kimberley, Bryan, Kenyon, Carla, Victoria, Bill, Kirby Jr., Colleen, Samantha, Krista and Cordell. Ruby had 21 great-grandchildren and several great-greats.
Ruby's wishes were to be cremated with no funeral service. Her remains will be buried at the Beryl Cemetery, for family and friends at a later date.
With special thanks to Beehive Homes Assisted Living, Dr. Thomas Jones, Applegate Home Care, and Hospice for all their love, help and support.
