HIGDON, Paul Alan


Kingman Daily Miner, Kingman, AZ - Published on June 12, 2013 - Paul Alan Higdon, 79, of Show Low, Ariz., passed away at his home in Show Low on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. He was born July 27, 1933, in Kingman in the old Mohave County Hospital to Paul Hadley Higdon and Millicent Evelyn Kapp Higdon. He spent several years as a child in Kingman and Mohave County, but spent a lifetime visiting back and forth. After spending well over 50 years working and living in California, he and his wife got an opportunity to sell their home in La Canada, Calif., and moved to Show Low, where they bought a home in the Cheney Ranch area in 2008. Paul started out as a surveyor and was party chief/field engineer, setting all control points in the construction of Dodger Stadium from 1960 to 1962. He eventually took night courses in tectonic engineering and became a construction inspector for hospital construction in the Los Angeles area. He retired from Southern California Kaiser Permanente Health Foundation in 1994. He had been a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 12, was president of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Construction Inspectors' Association from 1981-82, and participated in the Western Music Association, Autry National Center, William S. Hart Museum, American Legion, National Rifle Association and National Museum of the American Indian. Paul was a Korean War veteran in the U.S. Army, 1953-55. After basic training, he spent the rest of his service training recruits at Fort Ord, Calif. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Catherine Woodhouse Higdon of Show Low; his daughters, Millicent (Eric) Solberg of Auburn, Calif., Janice Williams of Glendale, Calif., and Paula Higdon of Pasadena, Calif.; his sister, Melanie Tayeb of San Diego; and John and Kathi Woodhouse, and Kenneth and Susan Boyd, all of Kingman; and grandchildren. No services or other arrangements are scheduled at this time.
