The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona Wednesday, June 19, 2013 Ruby Gobble, 82, passed away June 14 at the Chas Ranch in Cimarron, N.M. Ruby was born to “B” and Myrtle Gobble and was born and raised in Wickenburg. Ruby can be described in many terms: accomplished horsewoman, trick rider, roping champion, rodeo queen, movie actress, and ranch foreman. Raised on her family’s Arizona ranch, she was the first Miss Gold Nugget in Wickenburg. Later, she was the Grand Marshall for Gold Rush Days and was featured at the Wickenburg Museum for cowgirls. In 1949, Ruby was selected Queen of the Glendale World’s Championship Rodeo. She was known as “the glamour girl of rodeoing.” Ruby was inducted into the Cowgirl Hall of Fame in 1982. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Richard Gobble; and sisters Ella Parsons, Mamie Owens and Louise Lyman. She is survived by four nephews and six nieces. Happy Trails, Aunt Ruby.
