Duan Lawrence Campbell was born on June 5, 1922 in Eugene, Ore. to Lindsey and Doris Campbell. Du was raised in Portland, Ore.
He was a pilot in the 458th Bombardment Group during World War II where he flew bombers in the European theater. While training at Luke Field in Phoenix, he met the love of his life, Peggy Ensminger to whom he remained married until his death.
Following his service in the United States Army Air Forces, he attended school at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy graduating with the second graduating class in 1951. Du practiced pharmacy in a variety of settings including his own professional pharmacy in Phoenix, Monterey Pharmacy, the Beatitudes Nursing Home and the Arizona Pioneers' Home in Prescott. He retired from the Arizona Pioneers' Home in 1987.
Du died on May 27, 2013, following a long, happy, and productive life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lindsey and Doris Campbell; and his brother Robert Campbell. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Campbell; children Connie Campbell, Steve Campbell, Lindsey Campbell Alpert (Gary) and Suzanne Campbell; grandchildren Meg, Amy, and Alec Chin, Flor and Orquidea Campbell, Sam and Mackay Alpert, and Cooper and Cameron Nolan; two great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
