DONALD, Roger Stephen


Yuma Sun, Yuma, Arizona - Published in The Yuma Sun on June 18, 2013 - Roger Stephen Donald passed on June 9, 2013 peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born March 15, 1940, in Brawley, California to Donald M. and Norma (Berry) Donald. Roger was a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Electronics. He moved to Yuma in 1961 and was an integral part to the start of Yuma Two Way Radio Services (Motorola). During this time he married (Joy) and raised 2 children (Frank and KathiLynn) and his niece (Kerribeth). Roger was a charter member of both the local Search and Rescue and Yuma 20-30 Club, as wells as an active member in the Blue Knights, Local Harley Owners Group (both in Arizona and Colorado), and YALE (Yuma Area Law Enforcement). After his retirement, he moved to Durango, Colorado to build his dream home and take long trips on his Harley. Declining health brought him back to Yuma and family, where he spent his remaining years. He is survived by his children Frank (Lupe) Donald and KathiLynn (Jon) Vance, grandchildren David, Celesta, Kassandra, Brian, Matthew, Alexandra and Abigail; and loving family Kerribeth (Gary) Young, Joy Bradshaw and Dorothy Watts. A casual gathering of family and friends will be held at Brownie's Restaurant on Tuesday, June 18th at 3:00pm. Interment will be alongside his Father Donald and his brother Little Donald, in the Donald Family Plot, located in Brawley, California later this fall.
