MARTHALER, Wayne (Marth) Arthur

West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona, Friday, June 21, 2013 Wayne "Marth" Arthur Marthaler, 77, of Goodyear died June 16, 2013, in Goodyear. Mr. Marthaler was born Feb. 15, 1936, in Chicago to Art and Mabel Marthaler. He earned an undergraduate degree in physical education from the University of Illinois and a master's in business administration from Northwestern University. He met Patricia "Tess" Ann Tesar at the University of Illinois and they were married in 1961. He had a long career with Dixie Corp. and subsequently Georgia Pacific Corp. He retired to Goodyear, where he was an active volunteer at the local hospital and taught English as a second language. He was also an active member in the PebbleCreek community and The Church at Litchfield Park. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tess. He is survived by two sons, Todd and Tyler Marthaler; one sister, Barbara Gephardt; four grandchildren; and his companion, Janet Edwards. A memorial service was held Thursday at The Church at Litchfield Park. The Rev. Dale L. Hopely Jr. officiated.
