A visitation will be 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Funeraria del Angel Chapel. A funeral Mass will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Fort Yuma United Methodist Mission. Fort Yuma Quechan Indian Tribal Ceremonial Rites will follow at Fort Yuma Quechan Indian Big House. Cremation will be 5 a.m. Sunday at Fort Yuma Quechan Indian Reservation Cemetery. _______________________________________________________ Yuma Sun, Yuma, Arizona - Published in The Yuma Sun on June 19, 2013 - Jonell Emerson Hill (1952 - 2013) Our family is one. We have lost a cherished part of us, and our hearts are broken and filled with such deep sorrow. In her yourth Jonell was an outstanding athlete, and excelled in softball and basketball. She also played the flute, and took pride in her membership in the Quechan Indian Band, the Colorado River Indian Tribes Band and the Salt River Indian Band. She was a fry bread maker and burrito maker par excellence. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and her family's favorite daughter and sister. We mourn for you Jonell, but we take comfort in our faith that you are walking hand in hand with the Lord. Free from pain and suffering that you have endured for so long. Rest in Peace Joey...look out for us...we miss you and we will always love you. Jonell was preceded in death by her father, Fred H. Emerson; brother, Loren Emerson; and sister, Gloria. She is survived by husband, Boyd Hill, Sr.; daughter, Frances (Moises) Navarro; sons, Jason Lomaintewa Sr.; Boyd (Ona) Hill Jr., and Steven Hill; grandchildren, Jason Jr., Andrew and Naneeva Lomaintewa, Moises III, Jacob and Michael Navarro, and Malynn and Noreen Hill. Mother, Henrietta Emerson; sisters, Charlene, Marsha, and Janice Emerson; brother, Keith Emerson and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be John Esperanza Jr., Juan Castenuela III, Carlos Castenuela, Preston Scott Jr., Mickey Scott, Ryan Takala, Mathew Juan, Bryan Talaswaima, Brandon Frank, Michael Manchado, Chris Illingsworth, Moises Navarro, Daniel Hunter, Bobby Emerson, Isaac Collins, Joe Barton, Eli Collins Sr., and Seth Collins.
