GIBBONS, Joseph G. (Joe)

Vining Funeral Home, Safford, Arizona Joseph G. Gibbons January 28, 1932 - June 17, 2013 Joseph G. Gibbons, Joe, age 81, of Clifton, entered into eternal rest Monday afternoon, June 17, 2013, at the Mount Graham Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Joe was born in Bisbee, Arizona, on January 28, 1932, to Zimiri and Anita Gibbons. As a young man Joe joined the United States Air Force and served his Country during the Korean Conflict. Later in life Joe met his wife, Alma Ramirez, at the Williams Air Force Base in Phoenix, Arizona. Joe and Alma married and moved to Bisbee where Joe began his career with the Phelps Dodge Corporation. Joe worked for Phelps Dodge in Bisbee for 22 years and then, in 1975, transferred to Phelps Dodge in Morenci, Arizona. Joe worked another 22 years in Morenci, retired, and then moved to Loma Linda, outside of Clifton, where he was living upon his death. Joe is survived by: his wife of 60 years, Alma; his two daughters, Kathy Bourke (Mike) and MaryAnn Parrish (Stan), all of Morenci. Joe was also “Papa” to four grandchildren, Jamie, Shaun, Ian and Cullen; and last, but not least, “Papa” to three great-granddaughters, Karys, Jayla, and Cadence. A private family memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
