Leslie Elmer Wakeman, Jr. passed away at the age of 79 Friday, June 28, 2013 in Lake Havasu City. He was born Sept. 1, 1933, in Fowler, Kan., to Vivian Geraldine Wakeman (Houser) and Leslie Elmer Wakeman, Sr.
Leslie joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1952 and served our country during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged he came home to Kansas to work on the family farm. He then built Wakeman Feed Yard and operated it for 25 years. In 1998, he moved his family to Salida, Colo., and later worked for Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area. In 2009, he moved to Lake Havasu City with his wife Marie.
Leslie enjoyed spending time with his family, building beautiful log furniture, walking by the lake and eating ice cream.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marie Wakeman; four sons, Brent Wakeman, of Fowler, Kan., Terry Wakeman and wife Joyce, of Englewood, Colo., Todd Wakeman and wife Kiley (Larson), of Lake Havasu City and Micah Wakeman, of Fort Collins, Colo.; and one stepson, Raymond Goodrich, of Lake Havasu City. He also has one granddaughter, Rachel Clowdis (Wakeman) and her husband Justin and one great-granddaughter Caitlyn Clowdis, all of Minneola, Kan.
Services will be at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home, 21 Riviera Blvd. in Lake Havasu City, Saturday, July 6 at 10 a.m.
