Charleen Lois Smith of Flagstaff was called home to her Father in heaven on June 19th, 2013. She passed peacefully in her home surrounded by family.
Charleen was one of seven siblings, who eventually settled and grew up in the Phoenix area. Here she attended St Mary’s school. Her love story started with employment at the Mountain Bell telephone company, where she met the person who would be her lifelong partner, Jon. The two met one day at a company bowling tournament and were inseparable from then on. Following boot camp, Jon married Charleen, and they spent two years living in the big city of New York, where Jon was stationed. They soon returned to Arizona, where they both raised three daughters in Flagstaff. The quiet pine trees and subtle charm of dark night skies became the perfect place for her to cherish God’s beautiful Earth.
Whether she was picnicking or perfecting the beautiful garden that stands tall today, praise was always given to her Lord in heaven. She was a very dedicated and joyful person, with passions such as camping, traveling, woodcutting, gardening, Arabian horses, painting, as well as creating beautiful poetry for her family and friends. She accepted and loved anyone who entered her life, and touched many with her charming and caring ways, walking close with Jesus always.
Her eight grandchildren were the treasures of her life. She cherished, adored, and spoiled them all in their own ways, and left behind an amazing legacy resembling the beautiful life she lived on this Earth.
She is survived by her husband Jon, daughters Shelly, Kym, Stacie, and her eight grandchildren. Forever loved, and never forgotten- her legacy will live on until the moment all of those loved by her are called home to heaven as well.
