BRICKEY, Robert James


Yuma Sun, Yuma, Arizona - Published in The Yuma Sun on July 7, 2013 - Robert James Brickey, 77, of Yuma, passed away peacefully at his home on July 1, 2013. A long time Yuma businessman, Bob and his wife Rosie owned and operated Yuma Automotive Electric. Bob grew up in Jefferson City, Mo., at age 19 he was called to serve in the U.S. Army. Shortly thereafter, he was stationed at the U.S. Army Yuma Test Station. While in Yuma, he met and married the love of his life of 52 years Rosie. Bob worked for Yuma Automotive Electric for over fifteen years as manager prior to purchasing the business in 1984. 2014 would've marked the 30th Anniversary of ownership. Bob dedicated his life to his business and his customers until his recent death. Bob enjoyed fishing, working alongside his wife on their acreage, raising a variety of animals over the years, reading classic westers, and spending time with family and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his mother and father Barcie and Luther Brickey, and his wife and best friend Rosie Brickey. Bob is survived by his brother Larry (Arleta) Brickey and his sister Patricia (Dennis) Strader of Jefferson City, Mo.; his son, Johnny (Chris) Rico, daughter Vivian Rico Graf; four grandchildren, Kari Rico Loften, Louis (Laurie) Salazar, Michael (Joanna) Salazar, and Anita (William) Hawkins all of Yuma. Bob also leaves behind five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Private interment will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Desert Lawn Memorial Park. A memorial service for family and friends will follow at 10 a.m. at Yuma Mortuary Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Hospice of Yuma.
