CORDOVA,
Louie Dean (Lou)
The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ 07/09/2013
LOUIE DEAN CORDOVA finished his mortal life on 1 July, 2013 in West Jordan, Utah due to pancreatic cancer. He was born 15 May, 1956 in Flagstaff, Arizona as the first of 10 children to Fidel Armijo Cordova (1934-2000) and Maria Felicita "Felice" Martinez (1935). He grew up primarily in Flagstaff, Weed, New Mexico and Round Valley, Arizona.
He loved the outdoors, sports, and family. During his youth he became known for his blistering fastball, wide friendships, tender heart, and giving nature. He joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a 14 year old boy, drawn by the Spirit to the messages of eternal families, the Atonement of Christ and the Plan of Salvation. In 1973 he married Lily Elaine Finch (1957-) and they welcomed their six children over the next 9 years.
In 1991 he married Donna Elizabeth Howard (Krug) (1952-), adding her two children to his own six. Many more people including nieces and nephews viewed him as a mentoring father figure who exhibited acceptance, service, and uplifting words for those who struggled. He shared his special witness of Jesus Christ and the Gospel through his words, but more importantly through his actions and treatment of others.
His occupations included logger, butcher, stucco contractor, and state meat inspector. He primarily lived his adult years in the East Phoenix Metropolitan Valley and Carlin, Nevada. Lou's life and death were comprised of struggle and eventual triumph. He was a pioneer and leader to his family because though he passed through bitter challenges, he never let himself become bitter.
Lou is preceded in death by his father Fidel (1934-2000), his daughter Emily (1975-2012), and father in law Donald (1929-2007).
