Shane Liam Whitehat peacefully died at 10:10 a.m. July 8, 2013, surrounded by his family at the Tucson Medical Center. He was born July 26, 2011, at 3:23 p.m. at the Tucson Medical Center.
Shane loved to smile a lot and was a happy little boy. He loved to shake your hand when he met you. Shane made people happy just by being himself for he was a loving person; liking to hug and kiss. Shane would throw a mean ball because he had a good aim. His favorite movies were Mickey Mouse movies and he liked “Wreck-It Ralph.” Shane loved to dance and would do his steps whenever he heard music. He also preferred to eat vegetables over candy.
Shane is survived by his mother Ayla Rae Greasewood of Whiteriver; father Sherwin Jones Whitehat of Inscription House. Shane leaves behind his aunts: RaeEllen Greasewood Hinton, DesiRae Greasewood, Jocasta Whitehat, Leotonia Whitehat, Avona Whitehat, Dawn Amber Jones; uncles: Darwin Aday, Aubrey Aday Jr., Noah Shaw and Lionel Whitehat; maternal grandparents: LouEllen Greasewood and Raymond Greasewood Sr.; paternal grandparents Shirley Whitehat and Leo Whitehat. Shane is also survived by his great-grandmother Louella Nastivar Massey and godparents Barney and Amy Gregg.
Shane’s body was brought back July 11 to the Lutheran Church of the Open Bible in Whiteriver for a one-night wake. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 12, at the Church of the Open Bible, with Pastor Joel Sutton officiating. Interment will follow at the Solid Rock Cemetery in Seven Mile.
