Ernest M. Thompson, age 72, passed away at his home in Wickenburg on Jan. 23.
Ernie was born Nov. 24, 1936 in South Park, Mich., to Ernest H. Thompson and Elizabeth Davis Thompson. He moved to the Seattle-Marysville area as a teenager and graduated from Marysville High School. He then served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. Following his service he returned to the area and began working for Boeing Corporation.
He married Noreen Lall in 1966, and in 1967 they moved to Alaska settling in Kodiak.
Ernie was an outdoorsman and loved to fish and enjoyed what Alaska offered. He worked with a friend operating a land surveying business for several years. He later worked for Kodiak Electric Association until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Lion’s Club in Kodiak also.
He and Noreen began wintering in Arizona in 1995 and moved permanently to Wickenburg in 2004.
He is survived by his wife Noreen of Wickenburg, a son Ernest Thompson, Jr. of Marysville, Wash., grandson Nicholas Thompson and great-granddaughter Josie Thompson, nieces and nephews Thomas, Donald, Ronald, and Gerald Daniels, Laverne Grove, Terry Williams, Sandra Williams, Daryl Williams.
