VANOVER, Harold (Shorty)


Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona, Tuesday, July 16, 2013 Harold “Shorty” Vanover, formerly of the Globe/Miami area, passed away on July 6, 2013 in Tucson, Ariz. He was born Oct. 27, 1924 in Grundy, Va. Harold served in World War II. He was wounded and was honorably discharged with a Purple Heart. Later, he ran the Texaco station in Miami, Ariz. He also worked as a mechanic in the mines in Miami, Ariz. Harold is survived by his sons, Bart H. “Sonny” Vanover (Mary) of Tucson, James Vanover of Globe/Miami; and daughters, Betty Jordan (Mike) of Ocala, Fla., and Linda Vanover Reed of Globe/Miami, Ariz.; his only sister, Kate Vanover Pass of Nashville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Peter Vanover (Carollynn), Earl Vanover (Darlene), Stephanie Chavez (Randy), Randy Miller, Connie Jordan (Gardner), George “Mike” Jordan (Jennifer), and Darrell Vanover (Tammy); as well as 18 great-grandchildren. Rest in peace, Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, and Great-Papa.
