Arthur Lacy Matthesius, 91, passed away on July 16, 2013, in Lake Havasu City. He was born on January 22, 1922, in Washington, D.C., to Hans and Ethel Matthesius.
Art, as he was known to his family and friends, served his country in the US Navy from 1942 to 1945 during WWII and was honorably discharged. He was loved by many and especially all of his family loved him dearly and forever. Art was also loved and well cared for in his last days in the Hospice's Polidori House.
He loved music and played the Saxophone and clarinet in bands in the Service as well when he got out. While playing in a band for the telephone company, where he worked as an electronic technician, he and Dale, his beloved wife of 45 years, met and married on Flag Day of 1968. They traveled throughout the US in their 5th wheel before buying in Lake Havasu City in 1984. Art was a member of the ELKS Lodge 2399 and the American Legion.
Art is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Dale Matthesius; daughters, Karen (Ken) Resnick of Concord, NH., twins, Charlotte (Fred) Fisk of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., and Jeannette (Bill) Strub of Wisconsin and California, and baby daughter, Paula (Robert) Rogers of Tucson; sister, Eleanor Clark of Silver Springs, Md.; 10 grandchildren, Stacy, Wally, Tommy, Susan, Jennifer, Carrie, Billy, Lizzie, Maggie and Charles; 16 great grandchildren; 1 niece and 3 nephews and 1 great nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services are pending and will take place in August at the Elks Lodge, with burial following at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens. Contributions can be made in Art's name to the Polidori House, C/O Hospice of Havasu, 365 S. Lake Havasu Ave, LHC, AZ. 86406 or directly to Hospice of Havasu.
