LEYBA, Mary Jean Ann

Norvel Owens Mortuary, Flagstaff, Arizona Mary Jean Ann Leyba (February 7, 1935 - July 18, 2013) Mary Jean Ann Leyba, born in Madrid, NM in 1935 died July 18, 2013. She attended ASC and taught secondary education in Alfrida and Bagdad, AZ. She earned her M.A. from NAU and then taught on the Navajo Reservation for 6 years. She dedicated 27 more years to teaching at South Beaver School in Flagstaff. Many of her former students would greet her with a smile and a friendly “Hello, Ms. Leyba”. Jean is survived by her brother Alex of Prescott Valley and her dear friend Betty Juarez of Flagstaff. Services will take place Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 224 S. Kendrick St. in Flagstaff. Rosary will start at 10:00 am, funeral mass at 11:00 am, followed by burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
