Dixie Pearl Lawson, age 87, of Melrose, N.M., died Friday, Feb. 6 at her home. Services were held Monday Feb 9, at the Muffley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vaughn Gossman officiating.
Graveside services are at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday Feb. 11) at the Wickenburg Cemetery.
Dixie was born Nov. 30, 1921 in Wize County, Texas, to James Benjamin and Dora Barnes McKinney. She married Launey C. Lawson March 3, 1940, in Ft. Sumner, N.M.
She was a monument layout and designer, wrote poetry, member of Central Baptist Church, and enjoyed crocheting and working crossword puzzles.
She is survived by sons Launey A. Lawson of Parker, Ariz.;, Bennie D. (Judy) Lawson of Melrose, N.M.; Ronnie D. (Nettie) Lawson of Smith, Nev.;, David K. Lawson of Clovis, N.M.; daughters Dora V. Wendie (Joe) Glaze of Clovis, N.M.; and Bonnie G. (Mike) Walker of Branson, Mo.; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, husband Launey, and 10 sisters and brothers.
