Donald Roger Joor, (Don) of Lake Havasu City, passed away June 5, 2013.
Don was born to Henry and Betty Joor Dec. 23, 1933, in Escondido, Calif. Don is survived by three children, Kathleen, Steven and Karin Joor and his sister, Sandy Elliott, all reside in Lake Havasu City. Don has five grandchildren: Jaime Trabert Viera, Kerrie Trabert, Kristina Joor, Justin Fagan, Dylan Joor and two great grandchildren. Don is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Carol Swenson–Joor.
Don’s parents Henry and Betty owned and operated Joor Manufacturing in Escondido, Calif. They built the famous Joor Muffler building, which Don then owned and operated with his mom Betty, as the accountant. Joor Muffler became a local icon when Don purchased the Landmark Joor Man in 1963, the name followed him, and is now a famous landmark in Escondido.
In the late 1980’s Don moved to Lost Lake, Calif., from Escondido and finally to Lake Havasu City in 2000, where he retired to enjoy his family and friends with lots of boating, fishing and dancing.
Don was an outdoorsman, an avid off-road racer, earning several race trophies in Ocotillo and Glamis during the early days, and he was the best Captain of the party boat at Lost Lake Resort. Don loved his family and friends and always made sure he gave us all memories and an outlook that would last a lifetime. Don loved to dance and is the proud recipient of a 1st place trophy from the Macho Man Contest at The Sundance Saloon in Parker.
If there is one thing Don Joor taught us, it was to laugh a lot, cherish the ones you love, to celebrate life and to never look back. He will be missed by many.
