Lamont Mortuary of Globe, Globe, Arizona Marshall James Knopf (Died July 20, 2013) Marshall James Knopf, age 71, of Globe, Arizona passed away on Sat. July 20, 2013 at his residence in Globe, AZ. He was born in Denver Colorado on May 18, 1942. Son of August and Frances (Harding) Knopf. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Magma Copper. Marshall is survived by his siblings Val Knopf and Mauree “Reen” Shirley (John) and his long time companion Tamara Barnicoat. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 9:00 A.M. at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church. Interment will be at Globe Cemetery. ~~~~~~~ Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona, Tuesday, July 30, 2013 Marshall James Knopf passed away on July 29, 2013. He was born on May 18, 1942 in Denver, Colo. His father, James Merritt, was killed in action in World War II. Marshall was adopted and fathered by August Knopf. Marshall loved life, meeting new people and he traveled extensively from Alaska, throughout the USA, and South America. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 428 for approximately 40 years, and one of only four operators in the country qualified to lift the space shuttle onto a Boeing 747 for transport. In his later years, Marshall loved God, his Church family, and sharing Jesus with others. He was active in his Church and AA, where he became an amazing sponsor and mentor. He was also instrumental in helping his sister and brother-in-law establish a Christian Bookstore in Estes Park, Colorado. He is survived by four beloved dogs and two cats; by best friend and companion, Tamara Barnicoat; brother, Val Knopf (Christy); niece, Amanda of Boulder, Colo.; nephew, Payton Knopf (Kate) of New York, N.Y.; and sister, Maureen Shirley (John) of Estes Park, Colo. We will all miss him and remember him for always taking the time and making a difference in this world.
