Show Low, Arizona ~ 07/26/2013
Gerald Lee (Jerry) “Poppy” Furbee, 69, of Snowflake, died July 21, 2013, in Snowflake after a battle with cancer. He was born May 27, 1944, in West Virginia to Denzil and Laura Furbee.
Jerry enriched the lives of every person he came to know, even if it were for only five minutes, we were all the better for it, whether it was Jerry’s smile, a quick wink of his eye or the many entertaining stories of his life’s travels. Jerry was a generous soul, always giving us a reason to smile and laugh at ourselves and with him. His sense of humor lightened even the most darkest and difficult times of our lives.
Jerry was a true craftsman and outdoorsman. His ability to build, fix and create was vast, along with his passion to hunt and fish. His love and strong dedication to his family and friends could never be surpassed. Jerry’s absence leaves us with an enormous hole in our existence. Hopefully we can learn over time to fill this void with the love and memories that we all have of him, taking comfort that his suffering on this earth has ended and he has started another blessed journey that some day we will all be a part of again.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Judy Furbee; son Jerry Lee Furbee; granddaughter Kaleigh Furbee of Snowflake; daughter Liz Taylor; son-in-law Mark Taylor; grandson Ryan Taylor; fiancé Leah Maxwell; great-granddaughter Sophia Taylor of Mesa; grandson Adam Wiley; sister Velma Scurlock; brothers: William Furbee, Edward Furbee, James Furbee, Rick Furbee; sister-in-law Fern Marlatt; and extended family and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Denzil and Laura Furbee, sister Patricia Furbee and brother Denzil Furbee. “God blessed Jerry and may he now rest in peace.”
