She was born Dec. 13, 1954, in Paterson, N.J., the daughter of Ernest Stroedecke and Marilyn Ridlon Stroedecke. Brenda loved quilting for her family. She is survived by her husband Gerald McCardle; son Ridge McCardle of Alma, Kan.; daughter Fredia McCardle of Wichita, Kan.; sisters Laura Lamden, Paterson, N.J., and Connie MacLeod of Winter Springs, Fla.; niece Leslie Lamden; and three grandchildren.
