William “Billy” Hernandez Perez of Torrance, Calif. passed away on July 22, 3013 at the age of 89. Billy was born in Globe, Ariz. on Nov. 8, 1923.
Billy attended Globe High School, where he excelled in football, graduating in May 1943. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp and commenced basic training on July 19, 1943. After the service, Billy moved to Torrance, Calif. where he worked for American Standard for more than 30 years.
While in Torrance, Calif., he met and married Elenor Bacerra and raised a family of five — three boys and two girls.
Billy is survived by daughters, Susan Perez Ahern of New York and Mary Spear of Torrance, Calif; sons, Bill Jr. and George, both of Torrance, Calif. and Richard of Washington state. Locally, Billy is survived by Joe, Dan and Bill Rocha and Frances Vasquez of Mesa.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Elenor; his parents, Issac Perez and Francisco Hernandez; sisters, Margaret Rocha of Miami, Ariz., Vida Mora of Torrance, Calif. and Mary Miribal of Lancaster, Calif.; and brothers, Joe Perez of San Fernando, Calif. and Issac (Junior) Perez of Miami, Ariz.
Bill will be greatly missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.
