Helen Lucile Lonsberry, 78, of Prescott, died on Tuesday August 9, 2005.
Helen was born on July 27, 1927, in Eugene, Ore., the daughter of the Rev. A. Lynn and Ruby (Arnold) Lonsberry. In 1937 she moved with her family to Tieton, Wash., a small town near Yakima. Following graduation from Highland High School in 1945, she attended Seattle Pacific College where she majored in piano. After graduation, she taught music for a year at Central College in Kansas before returning to Oregon to teach piano at the Oregon College of Education in Monmouth and continue her graduate studies in music at the University of Oregon.
In 1963 she joined her sister, Marion and a friend, Eve Lee in Denver, Colo., where she worked for the State of Colorado, the last 17 years as an Engineering Technician in the Mapping Section of the Department of Highways.
Following her retirement she moved to Prescott in 1993 with her sister and Eve. She became very active in the musical life in Prescott, playing Viola in the Prescott Strings, the Brava String Quartet, the Community Orchestra and the Prescott Summer Pops Symphony as well as accompanying young students in competitions and recitals. She enjoyed many hobbies including travel, hiking, photography and reading. She was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and sang in the Choir.
Helen is lovingly survived by her sister, Marion Lonsberry, her friend Eve Lee and many friends.
Cremation was private at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley, and a memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday August 17, 2005, in the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Prescott. Donations may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church.
