SHIRES, Judy K.

The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona Thursday, August 01, 2013 Judy K. Shires (1947-2013) died peacefully on July 26th at the Camp Verde home she so loved. She moved honorably through life leaving in her wake people touched by her openness, her generosity, her kindness, her caring and an unspoken understanding that we are all, each one of us, One. Knowing that belief diminishes while faith illuminates, Judy was without the twin evils of prejudice and judgment thus enabling her to embrace all, regardless of socio-economic standing, race, sexual preference or religion. Judy also achieved success in life by being authentic and true to herself. She lived compassionately with an open heart practicing daily "Do Unto Others." Her imprint forever remains on all those she touched, especially her loving and devoted sons David of Pasadena, California, and Briar, of Camp Verde, Arizona, sister Carol Gilbert (Lamont) of Scottsdale, Arizona, brothers Mel Vukas (Nancy) of Marietta, Georgia, Gerald A. Vukas, of Los Angeles, California, and a large extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews. We are grateful, privileged to have known and shared in the embrace of Judy's life. Her love has made us more of who Judy knew we already were. Services will be private. Donations in Judy's memory can be made to the Camp Verde Senior Center PO Box 1793, Camp Verde, Arizona, 86322 (928-567-6356). Information provided by survivors.
