TAVARES, Daniel Joseph


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Sunday, August 04, 2013 Daniel Joseph Tavares, born in Berkley, Calif. April 9, 1935, passed away July 24, 2013, at the age of 78 in Prescott, Ariz. Daniel is survived by his beautiful wife Kathleen. Daniel and Kathleen were married for 45 years. They raised their family in Orange County, Calif. Daniel was a teacher at Garden Grove High School for 32 years. He is survived by his mother Margaret, 98, of San Leandro, Calif.; his brother Robert Tavares and his wife Carol of Fremont, Calif.; his son Donald Tavares and his wife Liza of Thornton, Colo.; his son Geoffrey Tavares and his wife Erin of Mission Viejo, Calif.; and his daughter Melissa Tavares of Long Beach, Calif. Those who knew Daniel knew how much of a smile kids would put on his face. Daniel had four grandchildren, Lindsey, Braedon, Aisha and Ava. Daniel was a very proud grandfather and loved to hear stories about the kids. These stories would always brighten his day. Daniel and Kathleen were also foster parents to 17 children in their younger years. Daniel will be missed tremendously by all his family. He was a husband, father, son, brother and friend. Your smile will be missed. Church services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at Sacred Heart Church in Prescott, Ariz. There will be a graveside service 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Orange, Calif.
