Harold James Ganyo was born March 9, 1935, in Grafton, N.D., to Edward and Oline Ganyo. He left us all on July 29, 2013. He was 78 years old.
Harold graduated from Bottineau College in 1955 with a BA in Mechanical Engineering. As a young man, he joined the National Guard and served for 22 years before his retirement in 1975. He retired as a Major. As an engineer, Harold lived and worked in North Dakota working for the State Highway Department in Grand Forks and later S&S Construction in Fargo. In 1980, he moved to Lake Havasu City where he worked for Mohave County for 5 years until he retired in 1985. He was a member of the National Guard and retired as a Major.
Harold married the love of his life Doris Ann Veer on November 6, 1955, in Grafton, N.D. Inseparable, Harold and Doris were married for 57 years. Harold was a loving husband and father to his four children Gary, Barb, Charles, and Lynda. He loved to go hunting and fishing with his sons. He also enjoyed taking his family camping and snowmobiling.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and his wife’s parents. He is survived by his wife Doris, his children Gary, Barbara Gustafson her husband Bill, Charles, Lynda, and grandchildren, Jessica, Joshua, Ryan, Lauren Hasquet and her husband Jordan, Justin, Jennifer, Benjamin, great-granddaughter Christiana, his brother David, sisters Alice Johnson, Carol Dinkel, Sandra and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Harold will be Saturday, Aug. 10 at 2:30 p.m. and will be at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3163 Maricopa Ave.
