The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Thursday, August 15, 2013 Forest E. Brown, 88, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., departed this life Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, in Prescott, Ariz. He was born Wednesday, Aug. 27, 1924, in Powhatan Point, Ohio, to Roy and Virginia Brown. Forest graduated high school May 28, 1943, and was on a troop train to Army Basic Training June 6, 1943. As an enlisted man, he served with the 125th AAA Battalion. He survived Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. His unit served under General Patton. He received a Field Commission to 1st Lieutenant under "I" Company, 329th Infantry Regiment, 83rd Infantry Division. He was awarded two Bronze Stars with clusters, two Purple Hearts with clusters, the Good Conduct Medal, and numerous other medals and citations. He served in the Occupational Army in Europe until 1948. He was given the honor of being a flag-bearer at General Patton's funeral. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1956. After leaving the military, Forest worked as a tool and die maker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and many other outdoor recreational activities. He was a loving husband and father - very kind and gentle. He loved life, his family and friends. And he would never say no to anyone in need of help. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Ella, Kay and Gail; brother Bently; and son-in-law Edward. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Brown; daughters Karen Brown and Linda (Casey) Robinson; and granddaughter Adrianna Aguirrie. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon with service starting noon Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W. Thunderbird Road, Peoria, Ariz. There will be a committal service with military honors 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Ariz.
