Anita “Anna” Grantland, 77, died Aug. 10, 2013, at her residence in St. Johns. She was born Oct. 20, 1935, in Tucson, the daughter of Alejandro Alday and Cruz Robles.
Anna was a homemaker; an amazing cook. She loved helping others, especially her church. She belonged to the Red Hat Ladies. She loved her family and her lady friends. She will be deeply missed by all.
Anna is survived by her son John A. Ronquillo of Mesa; daughters: Irene Romero (Raymond) of Florence, Sarah Barney (Ray) of Mammoth and Cindy Ortiz (Albert) of Oracle; brothers: Daniel Otero (Mary) of Tucson and Ernesto Otero of Long Beach, Calif.; sisters Rita Acevedo and Lydia Otero, both of Tucson; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Cruz Otero; husband Hubert Grantland; three children: Carol Padilla, Lillian Ronquillo and Charles Ronquillo; and brother Jose Luis Otero.
A viewing will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in St. Johns. Rosary will follow at 10 a.m. with funeral Mass beginning at 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the St. Johns Catholic Cemetery.
