Robert Nathan Tucker
Robert Tucker died Aug. 21, 2012, in Show Low Pines. He was born April 2, 1957, in Baltimore, Md.
Robert grew up in New England, but in the ‘70s he moved to Tempe, where he worked at various building construction jobs and for a time attended Arizona State University. Although he left Arizona for extended periods to live in Iowa or in California, he returned to Arizona in the ‘90s and took up residence on his own land in Show Low Pines, where he lived for the past 10 years.
During this later period, he often took courses at Northland Pioneer College in Show Low, but did not pursue a degree program. Robert was a great lover of the arts and, in his own right, was a sort of artist without a portfolio. Without any formal training, he taught himself to play several musical instruments. He was especially fond of music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
Robert never married and had no children. He is survived by his older brother Michael and older sister Katherine, as well as by a number of other family relations and close friends, all of whom will miss him. He will be remembered especially for his courage, intelligence and generosity of spirit.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, for Robert Nathan Tucker, aka Red Robert, in the Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area at the Stellar’s Jay Pavilion. Anyone who knew Robert is welcome to attend. This will be an informal event. There is no dress code. Anyone who wishes to say a few words (or more) will have an opportunity to do so.
Entrance to the park will be free of charge to anyone attending this service.
