Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Tuesday, August 20, 2013 - Tom Stuart Saunders, 87, passed away Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013 in Lake Havasu City. He was born Aug. 23, 1925 in Santa Cruz, Calif. to John Stuart and Gale (Brown) Saunders. Tom was raised in Santa Cruz. After high school he served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years. This was where he met his wife, Opal, who served as a nurse in the Naval Waves. They were married Feb. 23, 1946 in Dublin, Ga. Tom finished his career in 1986 as a cement plant manager for Lone Star Industries in Salt Lake City. He was a member of the ELKS BPOE, the Eagles and was a member of the London Bridge Golf Club for over 20 years. He lived in Lake Havasu City for over 30 years and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Tom is survived by his daughter, Roi Ann Saunders; and son, John (Joyce) Saunders, all of Lake Havasu City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Saunders; son, Timothy Stuart Saunders; and his parents, John Stuart and Gale Brown Saunders.
