ADAMS, Warren Hall

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Wednesday, August 21, 2013 Warren Hall Adams, 86, of Prescott, Ariz., departed this life Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, in Prescott. He was born Saturday, Dec. 11, 1926, in Cedar City, Utah, to Myles and Nola Adams. Warren's life was filled with decades of flying experience. Since his early childhood in Cedar City, Warren was enamored with the idea of becoming a pilot. Following his military service in the United States Navy where he proudly served in the Pacific Theatre in Okinawa (1944-46), Warren received his pilot license and, after developing his skills, began flying as a crop duster in Alabama and eventually in southern Utah. He later worked as a flight instructor and certified aircraft mechanic in Utah, Arizona and California. During this time, he also became a helicopter pilot. In 1960, Warren, his wife Betty and their three sons, Dennis, Donald and Michael, relocated to Page, Ariz., where he worked for Page Aviation as an instructor and scenic pilot, flying tourists and others over Lake Powell and throughout the southwest United States. His career with Page Aviation allowed him to fly northern Arizona and southern Utah during the building of the Glen Canyon Dam and the creation of Lake Powell. Warren became a pilot for the United States Park Service until his retirement in 1987, logging more than 20,000 hours of flying time, spanning five decades. He was a founding member of the Elks Lodge in Page. Following his retirement, Warren and Betty decided in 1997 to relocate to Prescott, Ariz., where they could enjoy their retirement. Warren's love for his country, dedication to flying and his collection of Gretsch guitars brought him many happy memories throughout his life and his retirement years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Myles and Nola Adams, and Betty Adams, loving and devoted wife of more than 50 years. He is survived by his son Michael Adams; stepsons Dennis and Donald Teel; sisters Margy Edwards, Joan Thompson and Patti Adams; grandchildren David, Jason and Cameron Teel, and Jacob, Jaime and Katie Adams; as well as several great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. with a memorial service starting at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at Heritage Memory Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave., Prescott.
