NOEL, Lou Ann

(Maiden Name: Anderson)

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Tuesday, August 27, 2013 Lou Ann Noel, 85, of Scottsdale, Ariz. died on July 30, 2013. She was born in Grandfield, Okla. on June 17, 1928, to Lois Grace and Marvin C. Anderson. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Bill Anderson. She is survived by her six children, Jamie (Greg) Beatty, Jim Noel, Phoebe Noel, Tony (Stacie) Noel, Hayden Noel and Adam Noel. She was blessed with nine grandchildren. Lou Ann lived in Prescott, Ariz., for 25 years, and was an active member of the community there until she moved back to Scottsdale for health reasons in 2006. Lou Ann was a life-long artist who experimented with many techniques and mastered many. Likewise, she taught others and learned new techniques from other artists. She generously shared her time, education and talents with others - and likewise always sought ways to improve her art and approaches to life. Professionally, Lou Ann put her Master's Degree in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling and Substance Abuse to good use as a therapist. She was also a long-time sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous (43 years), was very active and helped many others to achieve sobriety. In 1955, Lou Ann and her friend Beth Fielder decided to start a library in Scottsdale. After getting the necessary approvals, Lou Ann and Beth and their children made their way to the Scottsdale town center with boxes of books, a card file, a folding card table, and high hopes for a library for the West's Most Western Town. Ever since that time, the library has been a vital part of life to the town of Scottsdale, and has branched out from the main library to serve the needs of the community. In 2009, Lou Ann Noel and Beth Fielder received special recognition for their inspiration and actions that resulted in the library system. Their names are displayed at the bottom of the "tree of life" display located on the Scottsdale Main Library wall. Lou Ann Noel had a wealth of family, friends and others who loved her and genuinely appreciated her for the richness she brought to their lives. She will be greatly missed.
