DREXLER,
Peggy
(Maiden Name: Anderson)
The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ 08/30/2013
Peggy Drexler died peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, in her sleep in Covington, La.
Peggy was born Oct. 21, 1940, in Bertram, Texas, to Lelia and Edward Anderson. She became a Catholic at age 16 before marrying John Drexler March 16, 1957. They were married for over 52 years and raised five children together.
Over the span of her life, Peggy lived in seven different states, including Hawaii, and the country of Greece with her husband, John, who served in the Air Force. John and Peggy retired in Phoenix and later moved to Show Low.
Peggy treasured time with her family and friends and is remembered as a woman quick to laugh and welcome others in her home. She was an avid animal lover and card player, with a staunch resilience and strength that enabled her to overcome many life obstacles. For this, and for so many other reasons, she has, and will continue to have, the respect and admiration of her loved ones.
Peggy revived her Southern Baptist roots in Covington, La., where she moved to be near one of her daughters. She was fond of singing, and quoting Scripture and applying it to her life. At the end, she was full of beautiful grace.
Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John, and son John II.
She is survived by four daughters: Stephanie Clark, Teresa Heap, Donna “Kat” MacFarland and Rachel Conrad; two brothers: Carleton Anderson and Joe Juricak; two sisters: Mary Dubec and Susan Duffey; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a treasure trove of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A memorial service will be held in her honor Sunday, Sept. 1, in Show Low.
