Marvin B. Long, 90, passed away Aug. 18, 2013 of natural causes. Marvin was born in Madison, Kan., the youngest of eight children, to Major and Viola Long on April 1, 1923. He graduated from Virgil High School in Kansas in 1941 and joined the Coast Guard. After the War he returned to Kansas and made his living farming in Virgil until the family moved to California in 1951. He moved to Lake Havasu City in the late ’60s. He worked for the Havasu School District, as a bus driver. He loved that job, and travel, boating and cars.
His third wife, Shirley; and her son and daughter and three step-grandchildren survive him.
His second wife, Doris, died in Lake Havasu in 1983.
His first wife, also named Doris, is the mother of his four children, one deceased. He has eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Marvin and Shirley have been residing at Prestige Assisted-Living for the past two years.
A Memorial Service will be at Mount Olive Lutheran Church Saturday, at 9 a.m., with Pastor Matt March offering words of comfort.
