LUTZ, Jack Carl


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Sunday, September 01, 2013 Jack Carl Lutz, 83, of Prescott, Ariz., departed this life Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at his home in Prescott. Jack was born Sunday, Aug. 17, 1930, in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio. He was a scholarship athlete in basketball at the Trinity University in San Antonio. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He was an instructor in electronics and a member of the Air Force basketball team, where he competed in worldwide competition. He joined the Remington Rand Corp. in 1956, which later became Sperry Corp. and then Unisys Corp., devoting 33 years to the computer industry. Jack enjoyed organized sports, fishing, golfing, woodworking and traveling throughout the United States. He was a leader, a mentor and highly respected and loved by those who worked for him. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Lutz. He is survived by his wife, Clara Lutz of Prescott; two children, Marilynn Lutz (Michael) Selden of Yucca Valley, Calif., and Edward R. (Debbie) Lutz of Loveland, Colo.; and granddaughters Kimberly Kathryn Lutz and Adrienne Fabry Lopez. There will be a memorial service 10 a.m. Thursday Sept. 5, 2013, at the Prescott VA Chapel at 500 N. Highway 89, Prescott, Ariz. A committal with military honors will follow at the Prescott National Cemetery.
