Michael Schriefer
Michael's life began Nov. 13, 1995, as the younger of identical twin boys born to Peter and Kristin Schriefer in Flagstaff, Ariz.
Michael and Dieter spent their early years playing together, romping with their dog Eddie, stuffing newspapers, getting them ready for dad to deliver, and riding horses. They loved riding their horses on trail rides and won many awards and ribbons at their Gymkhanas.
Then came a time of change. Their lives diverged while remaining very close.
Michael was placed over the next few years in foster care with several families in Northern Arizona.
In this past year, when Michael came to the Prescott area, he was assigned to living in a supervised transitional apartment and was able to spend a great deal of time with us. We witnessed most often his quiet demeanor, a shyness and politeness; and his kindness and helpfulness was always on display. We were most thrilled that he was so willing to attend church with us each week.
He loved his time with the Youth at Willow Hills Baptist Church, where he tried to never miss. He earned his money for camp this year helping members of the church by trimming hedges, shoveling dirt to build a driveway and other chores. He always wanted to do his best. He had a wonderful camp experience this past summer and loved his friends at church.
Michael departed our presence into the presence of God, Aug. 31, 2013, all too soon at 17 years of age.
Michael is survived by his mother, Kristin Hall of Phoenix and her husband Sean; his father Peter Schriefer of Forchheim, Germany; his twin brother Dieter Schriefer, of Tucson, Ariz.; his three half-brothers, Aaron Davis of Southern California, Skye Davis of Idaho and Devon Davis of Southern California; and grandparents Terry and Norma Osborn of Florida; August Schriefer of Forchheim, Germany; and Marvin and Lynn Hammack of Prescott.
We also want to include all the families to which he was placed in the foster care program of Arizona and his many cousins, aunts and uncles both here and in Germany.
Michael's memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday Sept. 7, 2013, at Willow Hills Baptist Church, 1071 Mogollon Road, Prescott, AZ 86301.
Memorial donations may be made to the Willow Hills Baptist Church Youth Ministries.
