Keith T. Turley, 92 passed away on Friday, August 30, 2013. Keith was born January 14, 1921, in the family's kitchen, in Snowflake, AZ to Ormus and Ita (Hunt) Turley.
The family moved to Chino Valley in 1928. He graduated in 1940 from Prescott High School. While in school, he played football, basketball, and track and also joined the National Guard. At the beginning of World War II he deployed to Panama to guard the Canal and then on to Australia, New Guinea, and various South Pacific Islands as a member of the 158th Bushmasters Regimental Combat Team.
During his four years in combat he received the Bronze Star and many campaign ribbons and citations. After the war he made his living in construction building or working on most of the roads within the state and living in many towns throughout Arizona. The family settled in Camp Verde in 1970.
Keith is survived by his wife of 64 years, Anna Mary Sandler of Flagstaff, His children, Richard (Barbara) of Scottsdale, Randy (Kelly) of Roseburg, OR, Susan (Bob) Shamhart of Apache Junction) and Sandy Wytroval of Flagstaff, ten grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and their wives: Sheldon (Ethel), Clair (Sabina) and Gerald (Dora) and his sister Adeline (Harvey) and his son-in-law Ted Wytroval.
Keith was a respected and loved husband, father, grandfather, boss and friend. He enjoyed hunting and camping and all family activities.
Services will be Saturday, 11 am, September 7, 2013 at Bueler Mortuary, 143 West Arnold Street, Camp Verde. A gathering of friends and family will follow at the American Legion building next door.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any post of the American Legion or any hospice.
