Betty Jean Tichy, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away Sept. 2, 2013. She was born Feb. 5, 1932, in Lemmon, S.D. She was a resident of Dewey, Ariz., for 21 years.
Betty loved to travel the world with Jerry, her husband of 63 years. Together, with many close friends, in addition to travel, they were avid hikers, bridge players, readers and active with the Elks Lodge. Betty's many interests were reflected in her volunteer efforts with a hospice thrift shop, a public elementary school library and with mentally challenged students. Betty was known by family and friends as gracious, generous and so loving, even through her courageous battle against leukemia and pericarditis.
She is survived by Jerry; son Greg Tichy and wife Theresa of Palmdale, Calif.; daughter Renee O'Gorman and husband Shawn of Palmdale; grandchildren Christina Folse, Carly Paoli, Matthew Paoli, Candice Tichy and Tristan O'Gorman; great-grandchildren Anthony Folse, Daniel Folse and Gabriel Folse; brother Bill Gabbert of Albuquerque, N.M.; and sister Carol Seitz of Rapid City, S.D.
A celebration of Betty's life will be at a later date.
