The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona Wednesday, September 11, 2013 Rosemarie Chalsma, 85, of La Crosse, Wisc., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28 at Hillview Health Care Center. She was born in La Crosse on Nov. 10, 1927 to Jacob and Wilhelmina (Theison) Merkel. On Oct. 4, 1946, she married Glen Chalsma, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 2007. Rosemarie volunteered at Gundersen Lutheran for many years and had a foster child from overseas. Rosemarie is survived by daughter Jean (David Delaney) Woods of La Crosse; son Larry Chalsma of Wickenburg; granddaughter Jessica (Robert Cobb) Hayes of Rockford, Ill.; great-grandchildren Jakeira and Jakai Hayes; sister Patricia (Glenn) Mattson; and many step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; great granddaughter Keaira Rose; daughter-in-law Sharon Chalsma; son-in-law John Woods; sister Irene Merkel; and brothers Clayton, Merle, and Ray Merkel. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday (Sept. 6) at North Presbyterian Church, 1327 North Salem Road, in La Crosse. Pastor Scott Skogen officiated, and burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery in rural Holmen. The Dickinson Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
