Joan Elaine Krueger

Joan Elaine Krueger passed away peacefully at her home in Flagstaff, Arizona on Wednesday, September 4th at the age of 70 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Joan is predeceased by her parents, John and Ruth (Dickson) Olsen of Gillett, Wisconsin, and her dear friend Cheryl Cordray.
Joanie is survived by her loving husband Guy of 49 years. They were married in Gillett, Wisconsin on May 16th, 1964. She is lovingly remembered by her children and grandchildren, Krystal DelMonico, Emily and Paul of Las Vegas, NV.; Rich and Marcy (Spilker) Krueger, Owen and Norah of Flagstaff, AZ. Joan will also be missed by her siblings, Barb (Olsen) and Fred Pahl of Appleton, WI., John “Buzzy” and Mary Olsen of Gillett, WI., Beverly (Olsen) and Gene Colangelo of Mustang, OK., and Karmen Olsen of Whitefish Bay, WI. She also cherished her many sister and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and nursing co-workers. Joan was born in Appleton, Wisconsin on September 23rd, 1942.
She graduated from Gillett High School in 1960, and went on to become an LPN after graduating from Rapid City Regional Hospital’s School of Nursing in 1976. She worked as a medical/surgical nurse at the Fort Meade V.A. Medical Center in Sturgis, South Dakota for 22 years. She will be remembered as a fun-loving and compassionate coworker and nurse. Joanie enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking, camping, and hiking with her grandchildren.
Throughout her life, she was very active in the church, most recently at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Flagstaff, AZ. and also at Love of Christ Lutheran Church in Mesa, AZ. True to her adventurous spirit, Joanie loved traveling to places both near and far, including New Zealand, Israel, China, and Mexico.
There will be a memorial celebration service held at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, 3600 N 4th St., Flagstaff, AZ. on Saturday, September 21st at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Marc McDonald officiating.
