Lucille Jean Kempe Tafoya, 68, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, in Springerville. She was born Aug. 9, 1945, in McNary, the daughter of Otto Jensen Kempe and Josie Hidalgo Kempe.
The purpose of life, after all, is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experiences. Lucille Kempe Tafoya lived life fearlessly. She loved her family, friends and God fiercely, never holding back. She encouraged, pushed and motivated all who knew her to become better and stronger.
Lucille gave all she had to anyone who was in need. A trait she passed to her children and grandchildren. She believed she would live one life on this earth and lived that life to its fullest.
Lucille is survived by her husband, Edmundo Tafoya of St. Johns; sons: Ed (Lisa Beth) Tafoya of Rio Rancho, N.M., Allen (Amber) Tafoya of Phoenix, Victoria (Scott) Tafoya Sanchez and April (Ralph) Flores, both of Peoria; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ordacio Hildago and sisters Corina Romero and Rose Chavez.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donatons be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, P.O. Box 309, St. Johns, AZ 85936.
